Job Overview: Collections Specialist
As part of the Collections & Closed Loop Team, your role is to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments through proactive customer communication and efficient query resolution.

Key Responsibilities:
- Handle both inbound and outbound calls to engage with Johnson Controls’ customers.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of customer accounts.
- Develop and execute monthly collection strategies.
- Monitor and manage overdue accounts by following up regularly.
- Handle customer service requests and escalate unresolved issues when needed.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to process remittance advice.
- Support related finance operations including invoicing and payment application.
- Maintain call records and track expected payment dates.
- Investigate and resolve customer disputes related to billing and account balances.
- Conduct regular account reviews and participate in internal AR meetings.
- Perform account reconciliations and coordinate with the sales and customer master teams for updates.
- Process payment adjustments, promises to pay, deductions, and write-offs.
- Issue formal notices and escalate legal action for unpaid debts when necessary.
- Log all interactions in the collection system accurately.
- Ensure performance metrics are met or exceeded.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of collection procedures.
- Work with logistics and other departments to confirm delivery and payment status.
- Participate in fortnightly AR review meetings.
- Assist with month-end closing activities.
- Consistently achieve collection targets and manage past dues.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any discipline.
- 6–8 years of relevant experience in collections.
- Experience in EMEALA process transitions is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication in a professional business setting.
- Hands-on experience with ERPs such as Baan, Qolsys, Amer, Oracle, or SAP.
- Familiarity with tools like GetPaid, Contact Tool, or High Radius is desirable.
- Ability to perform intermediate-level account reconciliations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables), Word, and Outlook.
- Prior experience in a shared services environment for North America is essential.
- Strong analytical and customer service skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
