Position Overview

Cummins is seeking fresh talent for the role of Data Analyst in Pune, with the flexibility to work in a hybrid or remote setup. As a Data Analyst, you will transform raw data into actionable insights to improve business processes and support strategic decisions. You will collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources to identify patterns and trends, and create reports and dashboards to present your findings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct both descriptive and diagnostic analysis on data sets at Cummins.
  • Utilize machine learning tools to enhance data quality and address metadata challenges.
  • Identify key patterns and trends across data sources.
  • Develop reports and interactive dashboards to communicate analysis findings using business intelligence tools.
  • Profile data tables and elements within the data lake to ensure proper data management.
  • Create and maintain data catalog entries and ensure the quality of associated metadata.
  • Analyze data to detect issues such as redundancy, coherence, and integration problems, and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with teams to define data cleaning methodologies.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation on critical decisions, rules, and processes.

  • Data Literacy: Ability to interpret and contextualize data, describe analytical methods, and communicate their value to business objectives.
  • Data Profiling: Assess data quality and perform necessary cleansing tasks to extract, map, collect, and test data.

  • Data Analytics: Extract meaningful business insights from both qualitative and quantitative data using statistical, visualization, and problem-solving techniques.

  • Customer Focus: Build strong relationships and deliver tailored solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Tech-Savvy: Stay ahead of trends in digital tools and technology that contribute to business growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience, such as internships or student projects, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the latest data science technologies is highly valued, including:
    • SQL and NoSQL query execution
    • Agile software development exposure.
    • Knowledge of IoT technology.
    • Proficiency with data profiling, cataloging, and business intelligence tools.
    • Understanding of Big Data and open-source technologies.
    • Cloud computing experience in a clustered environment
  • Experience with Power BI development, including
    • Understanding customer requirements and creating wireframes as needed.
    • Independently managing Power BI development tasks.
    • Contributing to client discussions with expert advice and recommendations.
    • Ability to guide and mentor team members when necessary.
    • Knowledge of ETL processes and hands-on experience is preferred
